How do I prepare images for my site?
There are 3 important things to remember about prepping your images:
- Size - All images need to be uploaded at 1920 X 1280 px to take full advantage of the Swifty platform.
- This allows every image uploaded to be used in any spot on the website without ever looking low-quality.
- This does mean that horizontal images work the best and are highly recommended.
- If you do upload a vertical image we can not guarantee that it will always look good.
- File Format - Although Jpegs and PNG files are both supported, Jpegs are definitely recommended as they have a smaller file size which helps keep the sites loading fast.
- Never Ever Stretch Images - This is a design faux pas and always leads to distorted images.
If you already have a preferred image editing tool then please use it, however, if not we wanted to provide you a few free online tools that you can use to accomplish this.
- Pic Resize - This free online tool is quick and easy to use. It is perfect if all you need to do is size down your photos. This is the tool that I am going to use in my demonstration.
- Lunapic - This cloud-based image editor is pretty full-featured and completely free.
- Ink Scape - Powerful free downloadable software, this one comes with a learning curve.
